From Italy to the USA: Turning an Italian Manufacturer into an American Business

One of the most rewarding projects I’ve worked on recently was helping a small Italian manufacturer successfully enter the U.S. market. What began as a great product with big potential is now turning into a fully operational American business—with the right structure, funding, and strategy in place.

Behind every international expansion is a long list of details most people never see.

We started with the fundamentals:

✔️ Choosing the correct U.S. business entity

✔️ Structuring ownership between Italian and U.S. partners

✔️ Navigating tax strategy, cross-border compliance, and banking

✔️ Setting up contracts, distribution terms, and operational policies

From there, we worked through logistics, supply chain planning, pricing for the U.S. market, and brand positioning. What works in Europe doesn’t always translate directly to American consumers, so adapting the strategy, without losing the DNA of the brand, was critical.

We have started selling in the USA while producing in Italy, however, the American customer base demands USA production. So, while we build our American manufacturing plant in the Cincinnati area, we have started producing and shipping directly from our Italian sister plant. This provided us a starter customer base, along with some cash flow to fund the startup.

Funding was another major milestone. We prepared financial models, growth projections, and investment materials that clearly told the story: not just what the company makes, but why it belongs in the U.S. market. Through a mix of private investment and strategic financing, we will secure the capital needed to launch properly and sustainably.

What made this project especially meaningful was bringing a new business to the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. New jobs were created. New partnerships formed. A brand that once served a local European market is now building a footprint across the United States.

This is the part of entrepreneurship I love most:
